Kratom Tablets Guide: Strengths, Serving Sizes & How to Choose
Kratom tablets are the fastest-growing format in the category — and the one buyers ask us about most. This guide explains exactly what a mitragynine tablet is, how the milligram strengths compare, how tablets differ from capsules and powder, and how to choose the right product for your first order.
What is a kratom tablet?
A kratom tablet is a compressed, pre-measured dose of kratom alkaloid material — typically a concentrated extract blended with a botanical carrier, or finely milled leaf powder bound into a firm disc. Unlike a capsule, which holds loose powder inside a shell, a tablet is pressed into a single solid unit. That makes it dense, pocketable, and completely mess-free.
The key difference between a tablet and loose powder is precision. A gram of powder must be weighed, which most people do badly with a kitchen scale. A tablet has already been weighed and pressed by the manufacturer. If the label says 200 mg of mitragynine, that figure comes from the batch’s laboratory assay — not from an estimate.
Most modern kratom tablets are rapid-release. That means the material is milled to a fine particle size and compressed at a pressure that allows the tablet to break down quickly once it contacts liquid, rather than being formulated for slow, extended release.
Important: Pure Ohms Shop sells all kratom products as botanical specimens for research, collection and aromatherapy only. They are not for human or animal consumption, are not dietary supplements, and have not been evaluated by the FDA. Nothing in this guide is medical advice or a dosage recommendation.
Tablet strengths explained
Kratom tablets are usually labelled by their mitragynine content, not by their total weight. This is the single most misunderstood point in the category, so it is worth being precise about the difference.
| Label | What it means | Typical pack |
|---|---|---|
| 200 mg mitragynine tablet | Each tablet contains approximately 200 mg of mitragynine as measured by the batch assay | 3ct / 6ct / 12ct |
| 1,200 mg total per 6ct pack | 6 × 200 mg tablets = 1,200 mg total mitragynine in the pack | 6ct |
| 300 mg liquid shot | 300 mg of mitragynine in a single 50 ml bottle | single / 3-pack / 5-pack |
| 500 mg capsule | 500 mg of milled leaf material per capsule — this is leaf weight, not alkaloid weight | 60ct |
Note the last row carefully. A “500 mg capsule” is 500 mg of leaf. A “200 mg tablet” is 200 mg of mitragynine. These are not comparable numbers, even though they look similar on a shelf. Whole leaf typically assays at around 1–2% mitragynine by weight, so 500 mg of leaf contains in the region of 5–10 mg of mitragynine. A 200 mg mitragynine tablet is therefore a very different product by an order of magnitude — which is precisely why the format is described as high-potency and why it is intended for experienced consumers only.
Tablets vs capsules vs powder vs shots
| Format | Onset | Precision | Portability | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tablets | Fast | Highest — fixed mg per unit | Excellent | Measured, repeatable servings |
| Liquid shots | Fastest | Very high — sealed single serve | Excellent | Maximum convenience |
| Capsules | Moderate | Good — fixed leaf weight | Good | No taste, familiar format |
| Powder | Moderate | Depends on your scale | Poor | Lowest cost per gram, full control |
The honest summary: tablets win on measurable precision, shots win on speed and convenience, powder wins on price, capsules win on familiarity. Most experienced buyers keep two of the four on hand rather than trying to pick a single winner.
Cost per milligram — the calculation that matters
Comparing a $29.99 bottle of powder with a $54.99 pack of tablets is meaningless until you normalise for alkaloid content. Work out the cost per milligram of mitragynine:
- Take the total mitragynine in the pack (tablets × mg per tablet).
- Divide the price by that total.
- Repeat for each product you are comparing.
On this basis, tablets usually land mid-range: more expensive per milligram than bulk powder, but considerably cheaper than single-serve liquid shots. What you are buying with the premium is verification and repeatability — knowing that unit one and unit twelve contain the same amount, and that the number on the label came from an assay rather than a scoop.
Buying larger counts is almost always better value. Our bundles and variety packs combine tablets, shots and powder at a lower blended cost per milligram than buying the same items individually.
How to choose your first tablet
- Start with a smaller pack. A 3ct pack lets you confirm that the format, packaging and labelling meet your expectations before committing to a 12ct or a bundle.
- Read the Certificate of Analysis first. Every legitimate tablet has a batch number and a published COA. Ours are all at Lab Tests & COAs. If a brand cannot show you a COA, buy elsewhere.
- Check the milligram strength against your experience level. High-mitragynine products are not beginner products. If you have no prior experience with kratom alkaloids, a high-potency tablet is the wrong first purchase.
- Confirm storage. Tablets should be kept sealed, cool and dry, away from direct sunlight. Heat and humidity are the two things that degrade botanical material fastest.
- Verify legality. Kratom is restricted in several US states and Canadian provinces have their own rules. Check our Kratom Laws by State guide and your local ordinances before ordering.
Where to buy kratom tablets online
Buy from a seller who publishes batch-level Certificates of Analysis, manufactures in a GMP-certified facility, labels milligram content accurately, restricts sales to adults 21 and over, and ships from within the country you live in. Those five checks eliminate the overwhelming majority of poor-quality sellers before you spend a cent.

Kratom tablet FAQ
Are kratom tablets stronger than capsules?
Yes, in terms of alkaloid per unit. A mitragynine tablet is labelled in milligrams of mitragynine; a capsule is labelled in milligrams of leaf material. Since leaf assays at roughly 1–2% mitragynine, a 200 mg mitragynine tablet contains far more mitragynine than a 500 mg leaf capsule.
How are kratom tablets made?
By milling alkaloid material to a fine, uniform particle size, blending it with a botanical carrier for consistency, and compressing it under controlled pressure into a fixed-weight disc. Batch samples are then sent to an independent laboratory for assay.
Do kratom tablets expire?
Label storage is typically 24 months from manufacture when kept sealed, cool and dry. Alkaloid content can decline over long periods, so buy from sellers who rotate stock and print batch dates.
Are your tablets vegetarian or vegan?
Our tablets are pressed from botanical material and do not contain gelatin. Full excipient information is listed on the batch documentation.
What does “rapid release” mean?
It describes the compression and milling profile, which is designed so the tablet breaks down quickly rather than being formulated for slow release. It is a manufacturing description, not a health claim.
